ABOUT US

WHY?
The Centurion Shootout Basketball Tournament fosters unity by bringing
together individuals from diverse backgrounds, schools, and neighborhoods,
creating a shared sense of belonging. It also promotes cross-generational
interaction, allowing youth, parents, coaches, and alumni to connect and
strengthen positive relationships. Highlighting local student-athletes gives the
community an opportunity to rally behind its own, boosting morale and instilling
pride while celebrating the athletes who represent the hopes and aspirations of the
area while working their tails off on the court.
The Centurion Shootout provides student-athletes with well-deserved
recognition for balancing academic and athletic commitments, boosting their
confidence and highlighting their perseverance. They also bridge the gap between
academics and sports, promoting well-rounded development, while offering
opportunities for scholarships (through exposure/media), and personal growth.
Our event hopes to inspire younger generations by showcasing student-athletes as
role models who balance academics and athletics while demonstrating discipline,
teamwork, and dedication.
The Centurion Shootout fosters leadership development, promotes teamwork
and sportsmanship, and teaches resilience through managing both success and
failure (which sometimes is the best teacher). Additionally, our tournament will
highlight all participating school’s athletic programs, emphasizing the importance
of extracurricular activities, and promoting healthy lifestyles by encouraging
physical fitness and mental well-being. At FRC, we strive to bring together diverse
schools, teams, and age groups.
We celebrate inclusion by fostering mutual respect and cultural exchange
among athletes from varied backgrounds. By emphasizing accessibility, we ensure
athletes of all skill levels and financial means can participate, creating
opportunities for everyone to engage in and enjoy playing ball!
